Battle Fantasia Announced For Japan
Today, developer Arc System Works has officially unveiled its newest fighting project in this week's edition of Famitsu. It's Battle Fantasia, and some fans of the genre may recognize the name.
The series has been popular in Japanese arcades for quite some time, but don't think for a second that it'll be just another fighter when it comes to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. According to the magazine, the game will be "quite different than normal fighting games" and it will feature a "very unique gameplay style." For example, we've heard there's to be quite a lengthy story mode - big news for a fighting game - and we'll also get the benefit of head-to-head online multiplayer. We could always use a title that can breathe new life into an aging genre, so we'll be interested to see how things shape up.
Battle Fantasia is scheduled to ship simultaneously on both consoles this May, although it's only listed for Japan at this time. Unfortunately, considering the uninitiated gaming public in other regions, there's a chance the game will never breach Japan's boundaries. But we'll let you know when and if Arc System Works plans a North American and/or European release.

I never thought games like brave story or Arcana Hearts would ever be localized here but time after time, they do (ok, maybe I'm exaggerating that...). But it still is possible, right?
