EA Reveals Red Alert 3 For PS3, 360, PC

Today, EA has announced Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, with a PC beta test set for some time later this year. Yeah, one could say it's "just another C&C," but the team claims this one is going to "break new ground in the RTS genre," and they'll do that with the help of a "fully cooperative campaign."

In this installment of the long-running and critically acclaimed franchise, the Soviet Union is hanging on by a very slim thread, so the leadership decides to travel back in time and right the wrongs. Unfortunately, things don't go as planned, and upon their return to the present, they realize they created an alternate timeline where technology has taken a different advancement path. A new superpower is poised to take over the world; the Empire of the Rising Sun in the East. World War III has already begun, and it consists of three factions- the Soviets, the Allies and the Empire. Yep, sounds like one great big mess.

"With Red Alert 3, our team is continuing that proud tradition by introducing genre-first features like co-operative campaign play, which rewards veterans and casual players alike. In Red Alert 3, friends and family can always have your back," said Mike Verdu, general manager of EA Los Angeles.

This will be the first Red Alert game in quite some time, so we figured we were due. There's a lot to be said for the premise, and fans of the series should be downright ecstatic to hear about this one.

"Fans have been waiting for a new Red Alert game for seven years, and we're working hard to ensure its well worth the wait," said executive producer Chris Corry. "The team is staying true to the series' roots while adding new elements like a co-operatively played story-driven campaign, an astounding new faction that will shake-up the Red Alert universe as we know it, and units that will help make Red Alert 3 everything our fans have been waiting for. And by bringing naval combat into the heart of the game design, we're transporting that fast, fun and fluid C&C gameplay to the high-seas in ways that you've never seen before."

Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 doesn't have an official release date as of yet, but as we said earlier, you might be able to land a spot in the PC beta at some point. You'll need a copy of Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath, though, as it now boasts a Red Alert 3 Beta Key Sticker. Console owners should just be happy this series is headed their way. We'll dig up as much info as we can in the coming months.

Oooh sounds interesting.
I did play the 360 one and should have waited till I got my new PC to play it as I don't like the joypad for a mouse. EA did their best but I still wanted the quick response and the dragging a box over certain troops from the mouse. Also I seen that on PC the side menu in-game is on the side where it should be like tradditional C
