PS3 News: Kojima's Payton: No MGS4 At GDC 2008

Kojima's Payton: No MGS4 At GDC 2008

There are plenty of giant titles scheduled for 2008, and right near the top of the list is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Konami and Kojima Productions are primed to deliver what should be one of the finest gaming experiences of the generation, but unfortunately, we won't be seeing it next week.

The Game Developers Conference kicks off on Monday, and while we are hoping to see plenty of blockbuster games on display, MGS4 won't be one of them. According to the recent Kojima Productions podcast, the game's associate producer, Ryan Payton, has announced that the fourth installment in the legendary franchise won't be making an appearance at GDC 2008. This could be interpreted as "no news is bad news," but they've promised that MGS4 will definitely not be delayed again. We're going to hold them to that, and just assume they're not quite ready to show off any gameplay just yet. Payton has also said we won't be seeing a beta, either, but the estimated June release date is apparently still in effect.

So no MGS4 at GDC, but that doesn't mean other highly anticipated 2008 titles won't be showing up. In some ways, last year's GDC was loaded with more important info than E3, so we're definitely preparing for some big news.

I love MGS i really do, but I'm getting tired of Konami saying "no".

Metal Gear Solid 4 was one of the biggest reasons why I was excited about GDC. Well, I guess I'll have to wait, like every other game.
