Rumor: LBP Closed Beta Available In Europe
Ever since PlayStation Home and LittleBigPlanet was unveiled at last year's E3, we've been anxiously awaiting any news regarding both the promising online service and intriguing cooperative platformer. In regards to the latter, we've been hearing plenty of rumors centering on the possibility of a closed beta. But the interesting part is that this closed beta might actually be going on right now in Europe...
While we're not about to put much stock in Internet rumor, we've seen a few things in a variety of gaming forums that support the previous theory. For example, one poster in the official Euro PlayStation forums claims to be part of this closed beta, and perhaps even more telling, we've been seeing e-mails. Over the past month, three have come to us from gamers claiming to be involved in a closed beta for LittleBigPlanet, and all of them are from Europe. While none of this is anything but rumor, the evidence is starting to mount up, and we're trying to get to the bottom of it. Querying Sony will undoubtedly yield the "we don't comment on rumor and speculation," or the equally popular, "we don't announce anything until there's something to announce." We're even seeing screenshots of Euro gamers with LittleBigPlanet sitting on the XMB of the PS3...but what to believe?
Officially, we have no idea if there's a LBP beta in existence for Europe. Unofficially, we're seeing a consistent influx of proof that some gamers in that region really are testing an early build of the innovative title. Let's just leave it at that for now.
