God Of War III Scheduled For GDC 2008

The Game Developers Conference is almost upon us, and while certain blockbuster titles like Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots won't be making an appearance, others apparently will.

If you take a look at GameSpot's GDC 2008 games listing, you will find several notable names. Some of them, like Bioshock, Mass Effect, Rock Band, God of War: Chains of Olympus and The Orange Box, you're already familiar with. Heck, all of them are already available at retail stores except for the PSP God of War, which will hit very soon (March 4). Unfortunately, we see nothing about Grand Theft Auto IV, Gran Turismo 5, Killzone 2, or Final Fantasy XIII, and while that may appear depressing, don't miss the big one- God of War III, sitting right there between Twisted Metal: Head-On: Extra Twisted Edition and Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords. Now, the only information we have on GoWIII to date says we shouldn't expect the it until 2009...could this mean the game might actually arrive this year?

It would be quite the addition to 2008, and if the Santa Monica team is ready to show off some gameplay (cross your fingers!), God of War III might actually be on tap for Christmas time. Of course, we'd be happy with a brief trailer at this point.
