Resistance 2 Set For Fall, Possible Demo Coming In July?
Insomniac sent out a press release yesterday, in which they announced their "Nocturnal" tech-sharing initiative. This source code, specifically designed for use with the PlayStation 3 "will share elements of its technology source code and presentations free of charge with the worldwide development community." It's a bold endeavor to be sure, but for most gamers, something more appealing was included in that release.
Here's a portion of the text that sat at the tail end of the document we received outlining the "Nocturnal" program:
"Insomniac Games is currently developing Resistance 2(TM), which will release this fall, exclusively for PlayStation 3."
Now, Spong speculates this means we'll be seeing a playable demo in July, considering an Easter Egg they located in a recent video that hinted at more enemies and an upcoming demo. Remember, one of the first demos available on the PlayStation Store was for the PS3 launch title, Resistance: Fall of Man, so it would stand to reason that Insomniac would do it again. But either way, the press release has essentially confirmed Resistance 2 for the fall, which is excellent news. Some had considered the possibility of a holiday 2008 release, but it looks to be arriving even earlier than that. We'll be sure to provide the official release date when Insomniac is ready.
