Starbreeze To "Reinvent" Classic EA Title
We're putting a lot of faith in Starbreeze Studios, primarily because they're responsible for the only great video game based on a movie (or series of movies), The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. They also gave us one of the first top-notch games of the new generation early last year with The Darkness, so it's no surprise that EA is trusting them with one of their legendary franchises.
According to GameSpot, EA will be handing over one of its "most acclaimed classic franchises" for a total "reinvention" by the Sweden-based studio. The game has no title just yet, but they're operating off the internal code name, Project RedLime. Whatever it is, the game is scheduled to arrive for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, although no estimated release date has been given just yet. But we shouldn't have to wait too long for details, because according to Starbreeze CEO Johan Kristiansson, the team is "already deep in development" on Project RedLime, which leads us to believe they'll be ready to drop new info in the coming months.
Speculation about the game in question is running rampant, but we're going to present a theory: remember the story where EA said they were considering a return for Road Rash? Is it not a big coincidence that Starbreeze is suddenly reinventing one of EA's "classic franchises," mere days after EA said they've been talking about a new Road Rash entry? Oh, and here's something else to chew on- Project Redlime. Redlime is close to "red line," which is a racing term; it happens when you rev the engine too high. ...is there a connection? Hmm...
