Famitsu: MGS4 Drops On June 12
There has been a great deal of speculation regarding the release date for Konami's upcoming blockbuster, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Initially believed to hit either later 2007 or earlier this year, the game suffered one major delay (that we know of) and got pushed into the second quarter of 2008. Since then, we haven't heard anything official regarding an MGS4 release date.
However, one rumor has fans of the franchise salivating. According to a recent posting over at the NeoGAF forums, the latest edition of Famitsu says the hotly anticipated stealth/action title will arrive on June 12. This could be accurate, as we have evidence from both Konami and even Kojima himself that MGS4 wouldn't be plagued by any further delays. Kojima said he was "embarrassed" about the first delay, and Ryan Payton has said the game absolutely will not be delayed again. We've also heard whispers of a possible June release date in the past few months, so we'd love to think June 12 is realistic.
Of course, without any official word from the developer or publisher, we can only classify this as a rumor for now. Famitsu is usually pretty good about getting these things right, but they have been known to print speculation as fact before... But just about everything we see points in one direction: June 12, 2008 may very well be the real thing. Let's hope for final clarification soon!
