EA Planning To Challenge Tony Hawk

EA hasn't released a skateboarding game in almost twenty years (Skate or Die was their last attempt), but they're gearing up for a shot at the reigning champ.

Some time in 2007, PS3 owners can expect to see Skate - perhaps not an official title - which will try to compete favorably with Activision's acclaimed Tony Hawk franchise. The PS3 is already getting Tony Hawk Project 8 for the upcoming launch, and the Nintendo Wii will boast Tony Hawk Downhill Jam at the same time. It's a solid foundation that will likely ensure the series' legacy, so EA will have their work cut out for them.

Black Box is the developer for Skate, but besides knowing the game will feature 14 professional boarders, details remain few and far between. Right now, it's only been announced for the PS3, but we'll be sure to bring you any future info as soon as it comes to light.
