DualShock 3 Price and Release Date Announced
During today's retailer conference held by Sony, called Destination PlayStation, Sony also announced the release date of the PlayStation 3's newest controller, the DualShock 3. The pad has been available in Japan for some months now, but it'll finally arrive to the US on April 15th. Expect your DualShock 3 to be fully functional (that means it'll rumble) with over 100 PlayStation 3 games. So if you've been dying to get some rumble feedback out of your favorite PS3 games, you'll have it now.  If you can't wait and want your controller now, feel free to run to eBay or Play-Asia.com and score yourself an import model, which will play flawlessly on your American/NTSC or European/PAL system. It is still a two and a half month wait, so if you don't mind spending an extra $5 to get your controller early (they can be had on eBay for $65 shipped), I'd say go for it. That said, Sony has announced that the DualShock 3 will retail for a punchy $54.99 - factor in taxes and you're spending close to $60.
It may be pricey, but it is a really nice and sturdy controller; it's weight certainly helps it feel better than the SixAxis. No word on whether or not Sony will also bring us the Ivory White DualShock 3 (pictured above) that Japan currently has, as well.
