More GTAIV Details Discovered
By now, any news related to Grand Theft Auto IV is considered big news. The name along makes it big. Therefore, we're bringing you the latest details on GTAIV, which have apparently been lifted from the most recent edition of Swedish gaming mag, LEVEL. A member over at GTAForums.com posted the following list of info, and most of it is very new stuff.
Apparently, all of this came after the magazine writers played an early build of the game:
When night, ten thousands of lit up windows can be seen in Liberty City.
It seems that you can breathe in while sniping, for more accuracy. Remind you of Sam Fisher in Splinter Cell...?
Early trailers of the game apparently don't do the final product justice. The FPS is now solid and consistent, "no matter how much is going on in the streets." A steady 30 frames per second should be great, especially with all that action on screen at once.
This is a small detail, but still cool- when inputting info in the police databases in cop cars, Niko drives with one hand and operates the computer with the other one.
Some spotted street names were: North Holland, Ruby street, and Silicon Street.
When driving by, you can occasionally spot pedestrians having problem with their cars, standing and shouting and waving with their arms. Do you stop to help or...just stop to cause more trouble?
You can hang onto passing boats and climb on board, which seems similar to Pursuit Force.
There is a helicopter-tour place where you can take a tour around the city with a guide, or hire your own helicopters. Another option would be to simply steal what they got.
Rockstar and Take-Two have always said they wanted Grand Theft Auto IV to be far more realistic than previous installments in the franchise. Based on most details we've seen to date, including this last batch, we'd say they've gone a long way towards hitting their goal. Wouldn't you?

shops around the country will open at midnight to sell the game, people will buy systems for this game. Is it bigger than MGS4? i wouldnt like to say... as you say 50hours plus is a lot of game to play. but MGS has the fan base.. i really would love to see stats on the games when they are sold this year, how many brought GTA and MGS....
is it well documented that MGS4 has 10 hours of gameplay.. or is that you making that bit up? lol... still, being a linear game, i would rather it wasnt 50+ hours, that would be boring and you would quite easily forget what the hell you were doing in MGS.
ive preorded both, what a year for the PS3!!

So the game might only have 50 hours play, but if you like sandbox type games, you might as well add another 100 hours on to that. Personally speaking every GTA from GTA1 to GTA VCS.. ive done the story as fast as possible then spent countless hours just driving about and just generally exploring, taking in the humor and the sights, living the GTA.
There IS only one game that does this to perfection, and up until now its GTA. GTA is the pinnacle of freedom in games. The only other sandbox games that i think might come close is Mercs and the new Mercs 2, I cant comment on Saints Row as ive never played it.
But Hype wise, I think it deserves every bit, but too much is too much I agree on that.
I think if you talk to 90% of gamers and ask what is the game on everyones lips, its GTA. Even if they're not going to buy it! And this whole business with EA has only hightened that.
MGS, GT5 etc etc.. are games that (imo at least) are 'AAA' titles, but the gaming world has been turned on its head because of GTA, evey title has stired something up.
But what I find ironic is that even though this is possible THE most hyped GTA game ever, and possibly the most hyped game in many years.. I personally think it will be the least offensive, the least controversial and possibly the one that may disappoint the fans who want to be able to go 'crazy' like they did in previous GTA's.. I think this is GTA grown up, and I welcome it.
R* have said that this GTA is as big as a leap that GTA2 went to GTA3 on the PS2, I believe they're not talking about graphics this time around. I would say its all about content.
So maybe the story doesnt have 50 hours of gripping stuff, but the content of the game should have people playing right up until the very next GTA game, just like GTA should do.
