PS3 News: GameStop Starts God Of War III Pre-Orders

GameStop Starts God Of War III Pre-Orders

God of War: Chains of Olympus is definitely one of the best games of the year, but the franchise is only getting started in this new generation. God of War III doesn't have an official release date, but according to one of PSU's sources at GameStop, you'll be able to pre-order the game as of today!

Evidently, GameStop was given the green light to accept GoWIII pre-orders when Chains of Olympus released, so if you want to get a jump on things, pre-purchase your copy today. The third entry in this critically acclaimed series will boast Sixaxis motion-sensing along with supporting full 1080p high-definition resolution. Oh, and you can probably expect one of the finest action experiences in the history of gaming, if prior titles are any indication. David Jaffe may have moved on to found the brand new Eat Sleep Play studio, but obviously, Sony has managed to carry on the tradition of excellence with God of War since he left. Chains of Olympus is what you might call "verification" of that theory.

We hope to track down more info regarding God of War III over the next few months, and bear one thing in mind: whatever release date GameStop lists for the game is guaranteed to be just a placeholder. It's unlikely the game will make it out this year, so we're looking for an early 2009 release.

Preordering a special edition might be one thing, but preordering games that probably won't be a rare collectible in the future is pretty worthless. I'd rather just pick it up the day it comes out. Its not like preordering the Crisis Core PSP bundle since it was limited. Unless its a system or limited edition something, I wouldn't put down any money...YET
