Rockstar: 360 Version Of GTAIV "Superior" Comment Faked
Phil Harrison just recently said it best: "you can't believe everything you read on the Internet."
You may have noticed one of the biggest news articles that ripped across the Internet yesterday, claiming that a Rockstar employee had said the Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV was "superior" to the PlayStation 3 version. This started on the the rrlmuk forums, and spread like wildfire from there. Evidently, the poster in question said he was Rockstar's Neil Corbett, and talked about better textures and faster loading times on the 360, which quickly enlivened 360 owners and disappointed PS3 owners. But according to the Videogaming247 blog, Rockstar has confirmed that the reported comments were not from Corbett.
“Regarding the [story],” said a Rockstar spokesperson. “I can confirm that this is not Neil Corbett from Rockstar North that has been posting on rllmuk.”
So let's reinforce the facts: we've known that the PS3 version of GTAIV was behind, but Rockstar continues to say that both versions will be extremely similar, if not identical. They haven't wavered on this standpoint one little bit, and that's that.

say whatever you want about it being "next gen" or not... but the real purpose of the console is simple... a consistent platform. the "PC" is consistent in one detail... practically no two PC are the same. the sheer variety in hardware muliplied by the variety of software makes knowing whether a game would play on someone's PC a bit of a crap shoot at times.
as for the original article... all i know was the initial reports yesterday made me think it was fishy... but i didn't think about it anymore beyond that.

Also, I figure that the dvd9 that the xbox uses will turn out to benefit compression technology.
Plus, isnt the GPU superior, in practice.
I think even Naughty Dog admitted that much.
Does it REALLY matter to any of you, though?
If so, why?
Let the developers worry about that stuff.
All you have to do is worry about how you are going to get those grubby 60 dollars to get your grubby hands on the grubby disc.
Its that simple. Don't go all fanboy on us.
Who the hell becomes a fanboy for Microsoft and Sony? Don't be retarded. They don't care about a fanboy; they care about the numbers of dollars the fanboyS bring in.
If you're going to be a fanboy; be a fanboy to, say, Rockstar North, or Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, for examples. Nintendo is acceptable since they produce it all, essentially. But even so, its big business.
Be a fanboy to the people who make the games. Not some stupid Playstation or Xbox rhetoric.
Personally, I have a 360, and really enjoy it.
Did i wish they suped it up more, like the ps3, with the built in hdd n blu ray
Hell ya. Microsoft killed HD DVD and are only hurting themselves with the hddless 360's.
But, still, it does not matter. Obviously, developers can make great games with the unit.
Besides, it's not like I could afford all the crap I want, anyways.
Therefore, I prefer optimism. Good games are out, are comming out, and will continue to come out. Bar none.
I do hope Rockstar flips MS the finger and makes GTA hdd only, though. It's not like Microsoft is going to deny them the licensing rights.

will be for the PS3.As far with the 360 off the shelf...it is!It is custom in the sense that its compact to over-heat.After 2 returns to Microsoft and waiting 3-4 weeks to get it back each time due to over-heating I end up buying an Elite which the HDMI does not even stream audio,Optics only.360 next-gen? not really its
like saying the duo-core from Intel is a next gen chip...its not.Cell RSX is able to out perform anything on the market today, tomorrow and prolly 6 years out.The Cell does a Hell of alot of the work and RSX does the support along with the SPUs,Instead of relying heavily on the GPU.After playing Mass effect alot I feel that the game would of run alot smoother on the PS3's hardware.PS3 is better suited at multitasking.Plus being an open system,I mean come on you see people combining PS3's to make super computers you dont see them combining 360's do you? lol
