Dark Sector Includes Entitlements For PS3

The Xbox 360 has had Achievements since Day 1, and many gamers have come to enjoy them; they often use them as a measuring stick for evaluating skill. In the past, we've heard a rumor regarding something called "Entitlements" for the PlayStation 3, and it has popped up again thanks to Dark Sector.

According to the MTV Multiplayer blog, D3 Publisher confirmed yesterday that Entitlements would be included in their upcoming bloody action title. However, as one of the game's producers, Josh Austin, said, this is something that the development team created.

"Including medals or “entitlements” as we call them in “Dark Sector” was definitely forward-thinking by the developer, Digital Extremes," said Austin. "From the start of development, we planned that gamers would have a compelling gameplay experience regardless of platform."

Evidently, Digital Extremes was a bit ahead of the curve on this one, as Austin clearly says the team had already started working on Entitlements before Sony revealed it would be a new PS3 feature with "more of a presence." As far as we know, Entitlements will function exactly the same as the 360's Achievements, but we expect more details in the near future. In fact, it's something we plan to ask Digital Extremes during our interview! Stay tuned for that.
