Rumor Control: Still No Release Estimate For Resident Evil 5
Thanks to EGM, it was one of the biggest rumors of the year thus far, simply because it involved Resident Evil 5. Prior to this news, there had been no evidence that said the game would release this year, and many believed 2009 might be a more accurate target. However, once this rumor dropped, we all hoped for that October release.
Sadly, however, Capcom has stepped forward and simply restated that they have not assigned a date to the game just yet, according to Eurogamer. October wouldn't be a good time for Resident Evil 5 to release, anyway; it'd be in direct competition with the blockbuster sequel, Gears of War 2. That's not an enviable position for any publisher. While financial results have indicated the possibility of RE5 dropping this year, it still seems more likely we won't be seeing this next installment in the legendary series until 2009. As of now, Capcom isn't about to offer even a release estimate, which typically means...well, it might mean nothing at all.
2008 is already chock full of giant titles, and while we could always use more great games, there is such a thing as too many at one time. This can hurt sales of games that deserve recognition, and puts a great strain on us gamers to play 'em all. You know? We have to admit, though, we had still hoped this RE5 in October rumor had proved true.

dont get me wrong i love resident evil and always will hope for the next in the series, but there not going to waste a release when there's already 15 great blockbuster titles coming out this year, instead they will probably wait till next year and get all the bugs out of it and polish the hell out of the physics and graphics.. it's simple just think about it.
