The Getaway Resurfaces
Hey...remember this? Yep, it's The Getaway, one of the first titles that was supposed to show off the immense power of the PlayStation 3. The first tech demo that debuted way back at E3 2005 sparked a media firestorm that never really died down, and that same demo popped back up at the following E3 in 2006. However, since then, we've heard next to nothing about this promising action/adventure title.
That doesn't mean it's gone, though. According to ThatVideoGameBlog citing a Denofgeek interview with one of the writers of the game, Katie Ellwood, Sony is still "hard at work" on The Getaway. While the approximated 2008 release date wasn't confirmed (or even mentioned, as far as we can tell), she did say that production continues to move forward, and added one more juicy nugget of info: there is the possibility of a feature film. That's right, you might be buying a ticket to go watch "The Getaway" at the movies in the next few years. Well, you might be provided it's actually a movie based on a video game that's decent, which seems less likely than Jack Thompson logging on to the Network to play a round of Resistance.
But anyway, it's certainly good to know that this game hasn't receded into the shadows never to be heard from again. The demo, which was supposedly confirmed to be in real-time, remains very impressive to this day. Furthermore, it seems a bit more realistic, with all the amazing visuals we've already seen this generation. So, keep it up, Sony...we have high hopes for The Getaway.

I'm not keen about the idea of a movie, it will be another cockney ganster film that we've seen too many times before.
