GameStop To Offer Free Play Of Haze?
Some time ago, GameStop and EB allowed consumers to buy a game and then return it for another game of equal price within 10 days provided they had the original sales receipt. But times have changed, and after far too many people began to abuse this policy - the "free rental" idea got out of control very quickly - the policy had to change, and now, you can't return anything for a full refund or another game unless the product is sealed. However, it seems GameStop may be turning back the clock for the release of Haze.
As you can see by this flyer, the rules are pretty clear: if you pre-order the game early, you can play it, then return it after a week has gone by for a full refund in the form of store credit. In other words, you can bring it back and get another new game. The plan, of course, centers on GameStop's obvious expectation that most buyers won't be bringing back Haze, either because it's too good to give up, or they just forget (or don't have time) to return it. It's a pretty standard marketing tactic, right? You know how all those TV infomercials have the "guaranteed or your money back!" selling points? Yeah, same kind of thing.
Just a few things, though- the site this comes from is a UK-based gaming site (Dark Zero), and while the flyer confirms this information for the US and Canada, we don't really know how they got a hold of this flyer. Also, neither Ubisoft or Free Radical has made any announcement just yet, so for now, we'll just have to write this up as a "probable rumor." Until then, if it is true, we wonder how many other titles GameStop may bring back the "free rental" idea for...
