PS3 News: More Details Discovered For Heavy Rain

More Details Discovered For Heavy Rain

Any new details we can find on Quantic Dream's PS3 project, Heavy Rain, is most appreciated, primarily due to the developer's recent history. Didn't everyone love Indigo Prophecy, for example? According to Kotaku, Dutch gaming magazine Chief recently ran a major feature on Heavy Rain, and a tipster was good enough to translate some of the highlights.

First up, they have clarified that the story really takes center-stage (as it did in IP), which means we won't be seeing a gigantic, free-roaming city like what we find in the GTA titles. As Quantic says, they need to "control the flow of the story," but at the same time, we will have "crowded, heavily populated areas." In terms of graphics, they say that they plan to do "something unique" and they want to go beyond "just making the most photorealistic world" they can. We're not entirely sure what that means, but we're certainly looking forward to the end product. Lastly, because the story will take center stage, we'll give you the entire quote:

"Heavy Rain is about normal people that have landed in extraordinary situations. I wanted a much more personal story. The first thing that came to my mind, as a father of two little boys, was that the main theme should simply be a father's love for his son. This is not a game about saving the princess or the world. Its purely about a father's love.

The main story will revolve around 4 different characters, and we're putting the spotlight on their perceptions. The question 'what is good and what is evil' is the key here, that will be just a matter of viewpoint...I believe heavily in moral choices, I'm going to use them A LOT. They're not about being good or bad, but about finding the right balance."

So there you have it. And the more we hear, the more excited we become! Now, all we need is an estimated release date for Heavy Rain, and we'll be even happier...
