More GTAIV Info: Days Of The Week, Slow-Motion Driving

You know, it's like Rockstar purposely withheld certain details of Grand Theft Auto IV just so we could stumble upon them at strange times and get excited all over again. The MTV Multiplayer blog has discovered two new features in GTAIV that are bound to get everyone talking...again. We doubt Rockstar or Take-Two are actually keeping game information from the media, but if they were, it'd be a great marketing tactic to keep interest high, right?

Anyway, the first new feature is the Days of the Week format. We've heard plenty about how this particular installment in the franchise will be the most realistic (by far), so it would make sense to have days of the week. Strangely enough, though, it doesn't have months or seasons...just days. For example, the game's main character (Niko Bellic) may only be able to accept certain missions on certain days of the week. MTV Multiplayer gives the example of a mission called "The Final Interview," and Niko can only show up to do the dirty deed - assassinate a lawyer - during a Saturday appointment. Any other day, he wouldn't be able to do it. Now, just to clarify, time isn't real-time in GTAIV; the days change with the sunrises and sunsets, which isn't new to the series.

The second feature is Slow-Mo Driving, which seems reminiscent of the "bullet time" feature we found in the Max Payne titles. During a brief play of an early build, a Rockstar representative told the player to hold down the B button on the Xbox 360 controller. This changed the camera view to an overhead look, where the player could then click the controller's left thumbstick. This literally slowed time down, and the player could continue driving during this period of time, allowing him to drive fast while avoiding tough obstacles. This seems to go against the constant realism claims, but regardless, it's a very cool feature.

As usual, we'll continue to keep you updated with any new information we find on Grand Theft Auto IV. We know you want it.

Nah, I think it means that you slow down time, in order to navigate an obstacle more easily.
