Sony To Churn Out 100 PS3 Titles

When the original PlayStation rolled around, it was pretty rare to see more than a few first-party titles. Now, a full decade later, Sony's development teams have increased their workload exponentially.

Today, head of Sony Worldwide Studios, Phil Harrison, provided a couple fairly big numbers to Famitsu.com: Sony's network of international studios is roaring full-steam ahead, working on a grand total of 190 games for the PS2, PSP, and PS3. And with 100 of those 190 being PS3 titles, it's clear where Sony's focus currently lies.

Harrison did mention a couple games that are getting a lot of media coverage and fan attention, and those two are Insomniac's Resistance: Fall of Man (interest mostly in U.S. and European markets) and Level 5's White Knight Story (supposedly worldwide interest). He also brought up one of the few games Sony previewed during Kutaragi's keynote speech, Afrika, saying it's "a perfect example of a game that expresses the crossing point of real and virtual." Of course, we still don't know exactly what it is, but...well, it looks pretty.

Anyway, with 100 first-party PS3 titles in the works, it's a clear indication as to the company's commitment to the next generation.
