The Orange Box Patch In Detail, List Inside

By now, if you're an owner of a PS3 copy of The Orange Box, you may have heard about a patch that was released earlier today. Perhaps you've already downloaded the patch but don't know what it does. Well, Electronic Arts has just issued word on all of the fixes that comes with this update, so take a look at the list below:

*Fixed a graphical issue whereby a player would have the explosion effect left on the end of their Rocket Launcher when attempting to Rocket Jump.

   * Fixed a memory leak to improve single player stability.

   * Fixed an issue whereby the players name would not appear on the Stats comparison screen.

   * We have fixed an issue that would cause the vote tallies to disappear when you viewed the scoreboard between rounds.

   * Fixed an online server issue.

   * Fixed an issue that caused a crash when a player that wasn’t in Division 1 entered ‘Your Leaderboards.

   * Fixed an issue with players not always being added to the ‘Players Met’ menu on the XMB.

   * Fixed a bug where a player viewing a friend without an EA account would have an empty entry in the friend’s Leaderboard.

   * Fixed an issue where it was not possible to connect to the EA servers if you had more than 30 friends.

Quite an extensive list of updates, I must say. Unfortunately it doesn't answer one specific concern: the framerate. One of the most frequent and problematic issues of The Orange Box was its terrible framerate when playing Episode Two and Portal. Perhaps it's just not an issue EA wanted to admit to, but we don't see why. If any of you guys reading this have downloaded the patch, report on your experiences with the framerate in the comments box below.

personally i loved every min of OB, but not enough to keep.

the framerate issue was there, you would have to be blind not to see it, but equally anal to raise it as an issue on such a fine game.

personally what i would like to see is them to ditch Team Fortress (imo it just didnt fit in to the HalfLife games).. and replace with a HL2 Multiplayer online DM /TDM like HalfLife on the PC.

if it had that i would still have it, if the patch gave you that, then i would rebuy it.

these issues that the patch fixes are probably issues that need to be fixed, but yeah, fix that niggly frame rate issue, stop all the Xbot Fanboys getting their teeth in to the PS3's version.

OB is such an amazing game, a classic of its genre, but i feel EA hasnt looked after the PS3 version at all, even after this patch its still a game that could be fixed up.

yet we're meant to have faith in EA and 'want' them to buy TakeTwo? tsk... i dont think so.

I dont know. I am not a fan of cartoon shooters. Yes, HL2 was good but TF2 is just incomparable to COD4 Onlinewise! i guess this is good news for TF2'ers anyway!
