Konami Sends Out Mystery MGS4 DVD

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

When it comes to a blockbuster like Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, it's all about the marketing and promotion. Granted, all the hardcore gamers out there don't need the ads and other reminders, but in order to attract the largest number of consumers, that marketing is essential.

Therefore, we're not really surprised to hear about this: it appears that Konami has started shipping promotional MGS4 DVDs to those who have already pre-ordered the game. However, so far, it seems this is only happening in Japan, as we can't find any evidence of US or European gamers having received one. Of course, this news is fresh, so we really have no idea what might be on these DVDs, although we're willing to guess. Perhaps there are a few never-before-seen videos, added story details, and behind-the-scenes looks for all those big-time fans of the franchise. Whatever it is, though, you can be assured it's going to hit the Internet within the next few days.

And speaking of which, if you're one of the lucky ones who have received this mystery DVD, we'd like to hear from you. Tell us what's on it! If it's interesting enough, we might be prompted to pre-order the game just to get this extra content...of course, that's if Konami is doing this anywhere outside of Japan.
