The May issue of EGM featured the unveiling of SOCOM: Confrontation, and in it, readers learned all about the various special forces we'll find in the game. Unfortunately, they screwed up the info just a bit, so they've just clarified the info over at 1Up.

If you're not familiar, special forces classes will only be open to clan members. Solo players will be able to play as either commandos or mercenaries, but they'll have to officially join up with a clan if they want to toy around with the special forces. And here they are for your viewing pleasure, corrected and complete:

• Navy Sea, Air, and Land (SEALs, United States)
• Special Air Service (SAS, United Kingdom)
• Kommando Spezialkräfte (KSK, Germany)
• Unidad de Operaciones Especiales (UOE, Spain)
• 1er Régiment de Parachutistes d'Infanterie de Marine (1er RPIMa, France)

1Up has confirmed that what we found in the magazine (Italy's COMSUBIM and France's GIGN) will not be included in SOCOM: Confrontation. But at the same time, they hinted that both could arrive at a later date in the form of downloadable content, because it was made clear those two special forces units won't be included "in the initial release." Yeah, we're going to assume they'll arrive eventually.
