FFVII Remake Rumor Resurrected
It's our favorite rumor, primarily because Final Fantasy VII is one of our favorite games of all time. But after our hopes were dashed for the umpteenth time late last year when Square-Enix never got around to announcing a FFVII remake for the PS3, we basically stopped hoping. We thought all the evidence was pointing in that direction, but it just never happened.
However, 1Up is bringing this rumor back once again, and again, we're feeling that old familiar thrill of excited anticipation. It may not mean a thing, but in a recent 1Up interview conducted with Square-Enix's Hajime Tabata, he said something mighty interesting. Here's the question and answer that has resurrected the FFVII PS3 remake speculation:
1UP: Does Crisis Core mark the finale for the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII series?
Hajime Tabata: No, it does not. The Compilation's finale will take some other form.
Hmm... We thought Square-Enix had already announced all the "Compilation of Final Fantasy VII" titles a long time ago. Heck, all of them are already here, in fact (Dirge of Cerberus, Advent Children, Crisis Core), so what could Tabata be talking about? There's another title in this celebratory series that has yet to be revealed? Could it be...? We hate to get our hopes up yet again for something so small, but the bottom line is that Square-Enix does have another game to announce. And this game is in the FFVII universe. Damn, we can't help ourselves!

Eitherway I hope the rumor is true and I hope it's PS3 exclusive... it'll help the PS3 big time... but for some reason I see it coming on the PS3 and 360.... not the Wii though - at least when I think back to the FFVII Demo doubt they would down-size the graphics....

I highly don't expect a VII remake. The best they should do is make it available on the Playstation Store.
and there's hardly an FF game every few months, lol. The games never follow the same story and in most cases never even set in the same world. It's just the 'premiere' title given to the RPG games made by Square. Granted they did remake alot of the older games for the PSP.
On that note, the story following Cloud is perhaps not completely over. That or it's another case of mixed up words, but I highly doubt a remake of VII.
Sephiroth's last words in AC "I won't remain just a memory". *cough*... HINT HINT!

i enjoyed the game as is... i don't need a remake, i think that future efforts should be into something new.
on the other hand if they make a "compilation" FFVII, i wouldn't mind... something that adds something new to the game, and at the same time brings ALL the FFVII games (and animes) together into ONE singular game.
as for being PS3 exclusive, why would i want it to be that way? why would it matter? all i hope is that it'll sell, and sell WELL... thereby continuing the ever so ironic name... Final Fantasy.

It would have Voice actors for one thing, & i know i hated the Advent Children Voice Actors & im sure they'd return for the project, i bet Vincent would be more than an extra character, How would they hand the world map, just updated graphics will probably disapoint. Also the battle system people will winge if they change it or keep it the same. Also remakes tend to change events or things that happend if they change things people wont be happy, Look at the GC remake off Metal Gear Solid, they had nasty voice actors & The Cut Scenes were bombarded with silly Matrix Stunts with ruined the atomsphere completely, Also if they make the characters fly like they did in Advent Children, I'll actually burst into tears of rage.
FF7 on the PS3 is a nice dream, but i ask you, Is it practical.

This is an exerpt from an article about how the new XIII series is projected to surpass the VII series
Quote:
At E3 2006, Square Enix called the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, which at this moment includes 6 games, 1 film, 1 OVA and 2 novels, a "50 billion yen project" (roughly 420 million USD) and said it would span until the 20th anniversary of Final Fantasy VII (2017).
Would span until it's 20th Anniversary?
Will I really have to be freaking 32 years old before I finally see a remake of this game? if so I'll be very dismayed... Here's the URL for anyone looking for the specific reference
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fabula_Nova_Crystallis_Final_Fantasy_XIII
For those interested here's what they had to say about the XIII project comp
In turn, they called the new Fabula Nova Crystallis project a "100 billion yen project" (roughly 840 million USD) which gives the impression that Fabula Nova Crystallis would span quite a number of years and include many more titles, possibly including films, books, anime, manga, toys, etc.
