EA Buys GTA Forums For $3.4 Million?
When EA wants something, they go about it with guns a-blazin' and a fixed eye on the target. In their quest to purchase Take-Two Interactive, they apparently want to insure they secure the fan base that comes along with Take-Two's biggest franchise, Grand Theft Auto. Makes sense, yes?
Well, try this on for size: according to WhatIfGaming, the most recent rumor is that EA bought the largest GTA fan forum on the Internet (GTA Forums) for $3.4 million on March 22. Now, EA hasn't made anything official just yet, but there is a leaked letter from EA to "Tank," the webmaster of GTA Forums, which you can read here. As you can see, this is merely a message conveying EA's interest in purchasing the website, but if it's real, it certainly goes a long way to confirming a possible sale. After all, why on earth wouldn't Tank sell? What motivation does he have? For that matter, what's going to stop the Take-Two shareholders from voting for the EA acquisition? Yeah, not much...any time someone stands to make a lot of money, chances are, they're gonna leap at the opportunity.
We'll let you know when and if EA confirms this interesting purchase, and if they plan to pick up anything else GTA-related. They're on the warpath now!

But maybe Ben is right, maybe the whole EA thing has been blown out of all reason, but in my gut I know its bad news. and there isnt anything that will ever change my mind on that one.
but we must embrace change. IF EA really will own R*, then there isnt a thing you or I can do about it. Us never buying GTA or another EA game just isnt enough to change the world.
It pains me to think that GTA will never come home excl to the PS, and that we will probably have to share it forever and even get lazy ports and have to pay through the nose for rubbish.
Forget what the Playstation did for GTA, its means diddly squat now.
But there will always be games out there which we love just as much as GTA that EA will never ever get their hands on, for that we must be grateful.
but for now, que sera sera...
..you never know, ten years from now EA could be the most amazing gamer friendly company in the world! you never know!

If you have anything bad to say about the game guess what, you can't. Not on GTA forums anyway, cos EA will delete them.
Oh, you found a problem with the game? Wanna go on the forums to see if anyone can help? Sorry, EA don't want other people knowing about problems. So that'll be deleted too.
Wanna express your concerns about EA's ruining of games? Not on the GTA forums you don't.
Freedom of speech and expression is overrated anyway. Who cares if we don't get to voice our opinions? That EA company line is so catchy anyhow, "Kill the competition and give the people gruel."
