PS3 Version Of GTAIV Costs More In UK
The bizarre pricing that seems to surround Grand Theft Auto IV continues. First, we learned that Rockstar's blockbuster would cost an astounding $120 in Australia, and now, it seems UK gamers can expect something strange when the game releases on April 29.
According to the Videogaming247 blog, UK retailer WHSmiths plans to price the PlayStation 3 version of GTAIV at £44.99, and surprisingly enough, the Xbox 360 version will cost £5 less at £39.99. A very large ad proves this pricing, although we have no idea what the reasons are behind it. However, both Game and GameStation spoke up on the matter, and they said they did expect the PS3 version to cost more than the 360 version, even though neither retailer has issued an official price on either just yet.
“The PS3 version will probably cost more. We’re expecting an RRP from Rockstar on April 14,” the GameStation staff member said. “They dictate the price, basically.”
We really have no idea why the PS3 version is going to cost more, but for the record, Amazon UK still prices both versions at £34.99 for the time being. Perhaps Rockstar will issue an official explanation, but in the meantime, you UK PS3 owners may have to seek your own answers. As far as we know, both versions are identical. But we'll see what we can find out.
