Far Cry 2 Slated For Fall, But No Demo
Not long ago, we learned that Far Cry 2 wouldn't be vastly superior to the console versions - as a nasty rumor claimed - and now, we have a few more hints regarding the game's release.
First of all, Ripten saw an early PC build of the game and noted a "slightly dodgy framerate," but it appears the team will still have plenty of time to hone and polish. It seems that Ubisoft Montreal is shooting for a simultaneous platform release this fall, which means the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC versions will all be available on the same day. This is great news, but at the same time, we'll have to dismiss the possibility of a playable demo. Ubisoft said this would "take too much time away from the game's development," so we won't be getting any early looks at Far Cry 2 before autumn. Well, we won't be able to play it, but we do expect to see much more in the way of media; we'll stay on the lookout for new screenshots and videos, of course.
Some may say we have too many FPSs scheduled for the new generation, but games like this will probably be too good to ignore. And besides, we've heard some very interesting things about this particular title that makes us believe it's a little different... Check out our latest preview for more info.
