Both Versions Of GTAIV Have Same Recommended Price In UK
Yesterday, we told you about several UK retailers advertising the PS3 version of Grand Theft Auto IV at £5 more than the Xbox 360 version. We couldn't really figure out why this would be, but it appeared that a WH Smith poster proved this report, and a GameStation staff member said he expected the PS3 version to cost more.
However, GTAGaming.com has attempted to clear this up. Like all other Rockstar titles set to be released in the UK, Gem handles the recommended retail pricing. And according to Gem's website, GTAIV is setting the SRP at £49.99 for both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. However, this is only a guideline; retailers can choose to price the game as they see fit, so it's still likely that certain stores (like WH Smith and GameStation) may indeed price the PS3 version higher. We still have no idea why they would do this - does the PS3 version really cost more for them to buy? - but nevertheless, it's a possibility. Still, the good news is that the recommended cost for both versions of GTAIV in the UK is the same.
Oh, and Amazon UK still has the lowest listed price for the game at £34.99, and again, that's for both versions. You fellow gamers across the pond might want to jump at that opportunity, what with all this retail price shuffling going on...
