BBFC Reviewed Over 13 Hours Of GTAIV Content
Yesterday, we learned that the British Board of Film Classification had passed Grand Theft Auto IV through with an acceptable "18" rating, and as it turns out, the BBFC got a damn good look at the game. Why? Because according to Grand Theft Auto Planet, they were given 7 hours and 43 minutes of cut-scenes and cinemas to review!
In addition, the board saw 5 hours and 20 minutes of actual gameplay, so we have to assume that what was submitted displayed the game's most potentially offensive material. We also learned that if you fail a mission and have to watch a particular cut-scene again, the dialogue will actually change, and it might even change more than once. Hence, we're guessing the board saw many of the same cinemas only with different dialogue, which means that 7 hours and 43 minutes aren't all individual scenes. Even so, it's an impressive amount of time, and as Rockstar said, GTAIV could take close to 100 hours to fully complete. We'll be the judge of that when we get our hands on it later this month...and we can't wait, either.
By the way, that story about the BBFC's GTAIV rating is genuine; it's not an April Fool's day prank. The reason the information was taken off the board's official site is because it was a mistake; they don't typically make that information public. But the fact remains: GTAIV will have the "18" rating in the UK.
