The Force Gets Unleashed In September
The game suffered its first major delay late last year, then it got pushed even further into 2008, and now, it seems we finally have a cemented release date for LucasArts highly anticipated title, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.
According to GameSpot, the latest Star Wars video game for all major platforms will hit North America on September 16 and Europe only three days later on the 19th. If you're not familiar with the setting of this one, the story runs between the ending of "Revenge of the Sith" and "A New Hope;" a period of time movie viewers have never seen. You will play as Darth Vader's secret apprentice, and your job - not surprisingly - is to eliminate all the Jedi in the solar system. In the process, we should be discovering "new revelations about the Star Wars galaxy." We have high hopes for this one, especially when LucasArts claims it's "one of the most ambitious" games it has ever released.
You've probably already seen ads on Spike TV for Star Wars; they'll be running the entire saga this month, and they'll use significant commercial time to promote the heck out of The Force Unleashed. Hey, Lucas might not be able to write dialogue, but advertising and marketing is definitely one of his strong suits.
