Grand Theft Auto IV Multiplayer Fact Sheet

You know, with all the Grand Theft Auto IV info flying around out there, it can be difficult to nail down specific details. Therefore, Kotaku took it upon themselves to issue a very simple fact sheet concerning GTAIV's multiplayer, one of the most anticipated aspects of the upcoming blockbuster.

We know you've heard all about the likes of certain multiplayer modes (Hangman's Noose sounds like a blast!), and some of the more basic information has already hit the Internet. However, this here is a very simple and straightforward list. Check it out:

Grand Theft Auto IV Multiplayer Fact Sheet

Supports up to 16 players in all adversarial modes except co-op, which is a maximum of 4 players.

Players are ranked from 0-10; money dictates multiplayer rank.

Options in each mode are set by the host - among the options they can change are location of the matches (can be entire city, one borough at a time, or even small sections within the borough), types of weapons available, time of day, weather, use of auto-aim, police presence, NPC presence, and tons more. This should be somewhat familiar to online multiplayer aficionados.

GTA Race sees the host choosing the class of automobile, each player can choose a car within that class. Races can include helicopter and boat races as well. Woah...a helicopter race? Sweet!

Multiplayer Modes

Team Deathmatch- this is the classic deathmatch with a little twist, and the entire city can be your playground. There's a maximum of 16 players, and the team with the most money at the end of the match wins. It's not about the team with the most kills.

GTA Race- The host will select the vehicle type, race, number of laps and time limit. There will be set checkpoints, but racers still have access to the entire city. Again, there's a 16-player max.

Cops N Crooks- Two teams will go at it in this one. Cops will be able to see crooks on their radar, but the crooks won't have this advantage. The team of crooks needs to get their boss to safety while the cops must stop this from happening. 16-player maximum.

Hangman's NOOSE- This is co-op gameplay at its best. Each mode is a short, story-based mission that you and your buddies must complete. You basically play the role of the crooks in Cops N Crooks, as you're trying to get a crime boss to an extraction point alive. The best part is that you can choose any manner of transportation you wish... There's a 4-player maximum, here.
