"Repeated Meetings With Sony" Helped Capcom With DMC4
As time goes on, developers continue to learn more about the PlayStation 3, and most are starting to tap into the true potential of Sony's next-gen console. But make no mistake about it- it's a work in progress, and nobody ever said it was going to be easy.
Capcom should be commmended for delivering a game that's excellent on multiple platforms - Devil May Cry 4 - but in a recent interview, producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi said it required plenty of effort and some meetings with Sony. Remember when Sony offered to help third-party developers with PS3 development? Yeah, it appears the DMC4 team decided to take advantage of that.
"The Xbox 360 and the PC are close in structure, so it was easy to switch over. The PS3, the CPU and the design are unique... our programmer is extremely talented, and was able to figure it out. I think after repeated meetings with Sony that we were able to tap into the PS3." (source- Kotaku)
It's no surprise that developers were once again baffled by the PS3 when it first arrived (remember the PS2?), but once again, they're rapidly starting to get a firm grasp on the complex architecture. And besides, with Sony willing to help developers, we should be seeing even more impressive productions in the very near future.
