MGO Beta Available And Free For Europe
Metal Gear OnlineAt first, European gamers were severely disappointed to learn that they may be cut out of the beta test for Metal Gear Online. Here in the US, fans could pre-order Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and get a beta code to secure their spot, but retailers in Europe had no knowledge of such a program. Then we learned that while the beta would be available in that region, it wouldn't be offered in the same way.
Nope, it's better. According to Ripten, not only will it be free, but everyone will be able to slide into the MGO beta if they so choose. Konami has confirmed that the "Metal Gear Online Premiere Beta will be available as a free download on the PlayStation Store from April 17th until May 6th." The beta testing kicks off on April 21 and ends on May 6, which means you've got some time to download and play. If you've forgotten what this beta features, here's a quick reminder:
"The beta phase features two maps, four gameplay modes, the SOP System that encourages up to 16 players to team up and share information, and deep skill-customization. Also equipped with auto-matching and training modes, the game offers players a sneak peak of this totally new approach to console-based competitive gaming."
Well, how's that, Euro gamers? From the worst possible news to the best possible news in only a few days time. As of April 17, anybody in the European territory can log on to the PlayStation Store and download the MGO beta for free. Doesn't get much better than that.
