Resistance 2 Teaser Trailer Debuts
This past week, we learned that GameTrailersTV would be promoting the heck out of LucasArts' upcoming Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. At the same time, they gave us a little code that wasn't difficult to crack: we'd be treated to a debut trailer from Insomniac Games and Sony Computer Entertainment. It didn't take a mental giant to immediately assume this game was Resistance 2...and so it was.
Last night, the exclusive debut teaser for the hotly anticipated sequel hit GTTV, and YouTube not long after. It's a teaser, so there's no gameplay footage to speak of, but we get a few interesting nuggets of information. First of all, Nathan Hale has only 19 hours left to live, which might imply we're facing a countdown of sorts when we play through the single-player campaign. Secondly, we actually hear Hale's voice; something that was missing from the original title, Resistance: Fall of Man. Thirdly and lastly, we know exactly when we'll be able to see real gameplay: June 13, as announced in the video. As of now, we think all teasers should include a date for the release of actual gameplay. That's just awesome.
While Insomnaic's shooter will face stiff competition from the likes of Gears of War 2, fall of 2008 isn't a bad time for release. Last year, it would've had to go up against Halo 3, The Orange Box, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, and Unreal Tournament III; this year, the FPS won't dominate the holidays so much.
