Alone In The Dark PS3: Not A Port, Extra Content Possible
When we heard that the PS3 version of Alone in the Dark wasn't going to arrive until fall - while the PS2, Wii and Xbox 360 versions are slated for June - we weren't too happy about that. But then again, perhaps it really is the right move, and PS3 owners could benefit from it...
According to the Videogaming247 blog via Eurogamer, it appears that Eden Studios has issued this major delay for Alone in the Dark so they "adapt it instead of just doing a simple port." They also say that additional content (i.e., extra episodes), could be made available for the PS3 version. Lastly, they say a demo is on the way, but we may not see it until a week or two before the game hits retail shelves. Now, all of this is most encouraging, primarily because every last PS3 owner is sick and tired of lazy, crappy ports, which may as well not exist. These days, however, developers are either creating a game simultaneously on multiple platforms (PS3 included), or they're going out of their way to optimize the title for the PS3's complex architecture. This way, we'll be seeing better-quality multi-platform titles, and that's good enough for us.
So there you have it, survival/horror fans. Delaying the PS3 version is likely a much better idea than forcing out a sub-par port, especially if there's the possibility of bonus content.
