Dual Shock 3 Dated, Priced For Australia And New Zealand (Ouch)
Er...well, maybe Australian gamers have a lot more money than gamers in other territories, or something.
SCE Australia has revealed a release date for the brand new Dual Shock 3 controller, and it will hit retail stores down under on April 24 (New Zealand release: May 9). However, this new gamepad is going to cost y'all a pretty penny, as the RRP is going to be AU$99.95, which translates to about $92 US. By the way, the Kiwis (New Zealand natives) will have to pay NZ$109.95. We're not really sure of the reason for this very large price tag - as Kotaku pointed out, the DS2 for the PS2 retailed for a much more normal AU$49.95 - but we do know that Australian gamers are going to have to shell out the bucks. In case you need some extra motivation now, we'll leave you with this encouraging description from the press release:
"The DUALSHOCK 3 Wireless Controller provides the most intuitive game play experience with pressure sensors in each action button and the inclusion of the highly sensitive SIXAXIS™ motion sensing technology. Each hit, crash and explosion will be more realistic than ever as the user will be able to feel the rumble right through the palm of their hand. The DUALSHOCK 3 Wireless Controller can even detect natural movements for real-time and high precision interactive play, acting as a natural extension of the user's body.
DUALSHOCK 3 utilises Bluetooth technology for wireless game play and the controller's USB cable to seamlessly and automatically charge the controller through the PS3 at anytime. By integrating all these features into the unique PlayStation® controller design, the DUALSHOCK 3 will further enhance the advanced game play experience that is only available on the PS3 system."
There, feel better? Remember, most will agree it's a definite upgrade from the Sixaxis, so it's a must-have item for your PS3. We're just trying to make you feel better, but we're probably not doing a very good job. Almost a hundred bucks...ouch.

If you were a kiwi and ordered one now with the cheapest shipping it would still arrive before it's officially available in NZ, plus it would be cheaper. If you were an Aussie you could pay more for shipping to get it here before the official release and still save money.
Nice job Sony. I guess it costs more for you to ship something than it does for us poor consumers right? Where is all that extra money going?
