Midway Confirms New Mortal Kombat
You didn't really believe Midway when they said Mortal Kombat: Armageddon for the PS2 and Xbox would be the final entry in the series, did you? Come on, you can't possibly be that gullible.
Midway officially revealed a new Mortal Kombat at their Gamers' Day event in Las Vegas, and it seems obvious they're referring to a next-generation installment. (source- GameSpot) In more news related to what will be a very highly anticipated game, it turns out that Midway is using a "highly modified" version of the Unreal Engine 3, the popular Epic Games engine used in plenty of titles already...including the obvious Unreal Tournament 3. Fighting fans have been waiting for another MK, and if you say you haven't, you ain't no fighting fan. Armageddon was a pretty solid game in the last generation, but most will say the 3D games never retained the glory of the classic 2D iterations. Perhaps all that will change with an installment on next-gen consoles.
Much like Sonic, this is one series that simply can't die. Of course, MK hasn't slipped as much as Sega's once-proud franchise, but even so, we expect some major upgrades for this new one. Stay tuned for more details.
