Mercenaries 2 To Look Better On PS3?
We figure most readers expect to see dozens of GTAIV stories this week, and while that will probably happen, we always like to stay diverse. Let's not forget about some other upcoming - and very promising - titles that are headed our way.
One of them is the recently delayed but now on track for summer action title, Mercenaries 2: World in Flames. This follow-up to the original hit is scheduled to arrive for the PS3 and PS2 (and other systems) on August 31, and GamesRadar caught up with senior producer Jonathan Zamkoff of Pandemic Studios for a very cool progress update. As always, we find ourselves comparing the differences in software between multiplatform titles, and it seems that Merc2 will look better on the PS3. According to Zamkoff, Sony's machine is better than the Xbox 360 when it comes to anti-aliasing, which of course implies the visuals might be superior on the PS3 version. We know there are several things the PS3 should be able to do better than the 360 (on paper, anyway), and the more we hear from developers, the more we start to believe it.
Obviously, we'll have to wait until the final version drops this summer, but things are definitely looking up. Remember when we learned that many third-party developers would start creating their games on the PS3 first rather than the 360, thanks to a new set of dev tools issued by Sony? Perhaps Mercenaries 2 is the start of a new day in PS3 land...

Not too many people care about making the best game possible (thank you Kojima), and that's not necessarily a bad thing.
You have to think to yourself, what do I want? More people playing an inferior version of my game? Or do I want to make the best game possible and only make it available to the PS3 audience?
But yeah, money is way more important. I actually think I'm giving most devs too much credit.
