PS3 News: SCEA Replies To GTAIV Freezing

SCEA Replies To GTAIV Freezing

Rockstar has already said they "feel terrible" about the freezing issues some players have experienced with Grand Theft Auto IV, but according to SCEA, this problem isn't as prevalent as one may believe.

According to Kotaku, SCEA has said this major glitch is only affecting a "limited number of PlayStation 3s and there has been a low volume of calls to customer service about the issue." Even so, they also said they're currently working with Rockstar to resolve the problem as quickly as possible. Here's what they had to say in the official reply:

"Yes, we are aware of what the message boards and a few of the industry blogs are saying about a 'freezing' issue with GTA IV on a limited number of PS3s. Although we have seen an extremely low volume of contacts to our customer service department regarding such an issue, we want to ensure that every consumer has a great experience on our console and with GTA IV. All parties involved are working to isolate the problem for those few units and identify a solution."

Obviously, those who have experienced the freezing and lock-up in GTAIV are hoping they arrive at that solution ASAP. When and if they do come up with a fix - perhaps in the form of a patch - we'll be sure to let you know.

The online is fine, just more servers are needed up, if you play at night you'll see that GTA IV Multi. works fine.

For the love of God. First was Assassins Creed, and they didn't fix it. Now GTA? I am growing sick SONY! Mine is not here yet but it better not stop cuz i will be sooooo PO'ed. And can someone tell me if they can release it not only on PS3 Network, i dont have my PS3 connected to the internet and that would simply be useless to me!

I don't believe this is Sony's fault here. Anyway, Creed got sorted in not too much time and so will this.
From what i gather it's not a huge problem, just mostly an annoyance. If it bricked half the consoles it's played on, then i could understand an outcry. But it ain't all that bad. And considering how good this game is, it's worth the trouble.

I have the 80 gig Ps3.. and so far i've clocked in about 25 hours on Gta4.. with no problems what-so-ever. (Knock on wood) I don't know why they are blaming Rockstar, when its clearly an SCEA problem.. Is anyone on here having this problem outside the states? Or heard of anything like this happening outside the states? It may not have even happened at all.. it might be those bastards at EA making up crap. LoL.. not likely.. but ya never know.

Its not Sonys problem at all, It is infact Rockstars problem, for both platforms. The Cd's are... Currupt you can say, and Rockstar is currently working on a patch to resolve the issues. But damn, if it was EA, they shall have my balls straight up their mouths!

I'm from singapore and i've got the freezing, hanging issue only when i've entered the multiplayer mode. single player is fine apart from some frame rate issues. Keenly awaiting an update to fix it. C'mon rockstar i have faith in you guys!

My friends (X360 users) Have also had freezing issues with the game, thats another reason why It cant be from Sony.

Personally, I believe the report that it's nothing more than a faulty shipment sent to GameStop. Once that shipment is gone, this problem will disappear.

Of course, that doesn't really help those having the problems NOW, but I'm just saying...
