Virtua Fighter Fans: Sega Wants You!
You know how you fightin' fanatics have always wanted to step into the game and get your shot at the next competitor? Well, we're still a ways off from attaining that level of technology, but Sega is offering the next best thing.
Provided you're either, A. registered with Sega's VF.net service, B. own a cell phone with Internet access, or C. have home Internet access, you can take part in the company's Virtua Fighter 5 promotion. Sega has began its search for the one player they plan to feature in the upcoming PS3 title, and it could...be...you. Simply submit your VF5 arcade player data and if you win, your character will appear in the game! He'll have all equipped items, a ring name, intro text, battle record and level, and the character will pop up as a rival when you challenge the CPU.
There's only one minor flaw to Sega's grand plan: they apparently don't intend to contact the winner. You'll have to play the game to see if you're a star in the virtual world, which just might be an ultra-savvy business move. But they're not completely heartless: Sega will reward all applicants with 1000G, which you can put towards any purchase in the VF.net service.
Those who want to take their shot should visit the Japanese VF5 page.
