New MGS4 Gameplay Footage Video

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is only about five weeks away now, and with each passing day, we get closer to experiencing what many expect to be the finest stealth/action experience in history. And now, after an exclusive XPlay feature boasting plenty of new gameplay, the fans are even more excited (if that's humanly possible).

First, they take us through a section where the player controls a droid, which has stealth camouflage and even a weapon in the form of an electric shock that stuns enemies. Then, we're treated to an intense section of combat where Snake and his friends storm a house loaded down with Ocelot's gang. Honestly, it's possibly the most amount of all-out action we've ever seen in any MGS title, and the level of AI - for both allies and opponents - is impressive. We feel sorry for the all-female, wall-climbing pack of soldiers under Ocelot's control, but hey, a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. Lastly, we get a chance to see the rocket launcher - sweet! - and as one final detail, bullets will penetrate certain objects. You can see Snake get hit when crouching behind a wooden obstacle, for example.

Well, there's not much else to say. Now you just have to watch it to fully appreciate the greatness of the gameplay. We kinda figured it'd be awesome, but we'll take this as early vindication.

I really hope MGS4 gets game of the year.

When I played the MGS4 demo, I really felt like I was playing something next-gen. I can't wait.

I've felt like I've been playing Playstation 2.5, with the exception of a few games. As good as games have been in the past year, I haven't felt like the leap from PS2 to PS3 was that big.

But games like MGS4, LBP, Killzone 2, Uncharted and GTA4 remind me that we are indeed in a new generation.

@LegioN
There has been a while back a demo on PSN for a limited period, it was the same demo played by journalists at many conventions.

@LegioN - I was one of the first to play it at EForAll this year. It was awesome. They had the booth surrounded by a barbed-wire fence - the booth itself was a military bunker - and when you stepped in, they had these sacks you used to sit on with some headphones and a sixaxis on it. Then they gave us a tutorial for like 5 minutes, and got a chance to play 20 minutes.

I sucked so badly though, I was so conscious of the time restrictions that instead of getting in as much as possible, I ended up not knowing what to focus on and getting killed a lot. Plus, I was playing on a screen where everyone outside of the bunker could see, and everyone was watching me play.

@prone - Huh? No there hasn't.

@ Ben

It's got a weird message where the video should be. The whole box is blue and in the box it says:

Type:
3rd Party
Size:
Unknown
Dimensions:
425x355 px
System:
PS3

Edit: Nevermind, i didn't realise thats not where the video should be, i found it after clicking the second link. Question though, why do you have to click 2 links to get to the video? Wouldn't it be easier to make it one?

There usually is only one link (if you go under our Videos to check, you'll see). It's just that this is a separate news story, and I linked to the video.

Holy crap! I loved it! I just cant believe I missed that on G4. Dammit! I try to catch all the new episodes of X play and attack of the show. But what I really love is Ninja Warrior, Women of Ninja Warrior, and Unbeatable Banzuke. Those are my favorite shows off all time!

I'm not too sure about Grand Theft Auto 4 being the best game out THIS year, but I'm pretty sure that this last installment in the Metal Gear Solid franchise will be the best and most intense of all...
