PS3 News: GTAIV 1.01 Patch Now Available

GTAIV 1.01 Patch Now Available

Sony and Rockstar quickly responded to the freezing and lock-up issues many players were experiencing with Grand Theft Auto IV. Both companies said they'd work fast to come up with a fix of some kind, and in the meantime, we figured out a few ways of getting around the glitch (unplug the Internet connection, for one).

But when you load up GTAIV with the PS3 connected to the Network today, you will notice that they've apparently delivered that repair in the form of a 18MB patch. It's the GTAIV 1.01 update and at that 18MB size, it's quite small, so it won't take very long at all to download. So far, early reports are that everything is going along nicely; those who did have the freezing issues before now say they haven't come across any problems since downloading the patch. Of course, it's still early, but the first batch of feedback we've seen around the Internet has been most positive. For our part, signing out of the PSN has worked just fine, but now we won't have to do that...right, Rockstar?

So, if you've been having trouble with GTAIV, today's the day all your difficulties should cease. But if for whatever reason they don't, feel free to let us know. We'll be trying to find more feedback in the future, and while we'd like to just assume this patch is a fix-all, that may not be the case... Try it out!

Yea right dude the guys at Rockstar are probably already starting on their next Grand Theft Auto right now. Video games are like cars dude as soon as they're releasing their brand new model of the year, they already have a couple of months head start on the building the next model...

My friend, even after downloading the patch, can't get past the first loading screen still.

However for me it's allowed me to play multiplayer again, which im happy about.

well i tried playing after downloading the patch, & it worked fer about 12 minutes. Then it froze, also i was so able to play multiplayer. Personally I think it has to do with the radio stations, it freezes mostly in the cars and on 102.7 frequently.

i could played online quite a bit now(compared to before)...

but still had the "lost connection to one or more players. returning to single player".
plus had some serious difficulty playing with a buddy of mine and other random people...

i mean, it worked, but could've been better...
either way, i think it's on the upturn...!
GTA race is funnnnnnn :D
