Fight Night Round 4 To Boast Iron Mike
It seems like forever since boxing fans were able to take control of a virtual Mike Tyson, but the controversial athlete is making his triumphant return in EA's next installment of the popular and critically acclaimed Fight Night franchise.
According to TheManRoom, EA has revealed that they're hard at work on Fight Night Round 4 (EA Canada is handling the development), and they expect it to release some time next year. EA also plans to release Facebreaker in 2008, but that's more of an arcade-y style boxing game while the Fight Night series is closer to reality. EA plans to rebuild the physics and animation in order to faithfully capture every blow and maneuver, and for the very first time, "up-close fighting" will be a feature. And of course, Iron Mike is coming back, and while his tainted past might irritate some fans, what he did in the ring will stand the test of time.
Fight Night Round 4 is slated for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 - as one might expect - and we're really hoping for a fantastic boxing simulator. We'll travel back in time to play as a younger Tyson, of course, but we can let that slide for the sake of nostalgia.
