Kratos Slashes Into Stores On March 2?
Once again, it seems as if the retailers may have vital info long before the journalists.
We've known for a while now that God of War III wouldn't drop until next year, but we never knew exactly when it would arrive. However, if you check Amazon.com and GameStop.com, you'll notice that both list a March 2, 2009 release for the hotly anticipated action title. Now, here's another little interesting detail: God of War released on March 22, 2005 and God of War II launched on March 13, 2007. ...wouldn't it make sense to see the third installment release on March 2, 2009? Sure, that's almost exactly two years between each entry, with each successive release hitting store shelves just a bit sooner than its predecessor two years prior. Sony hasn't provided us with an official date as of yet, but we'd love to think this March 2 date is accurate.
Now, of course you can pre-order God of War III at either location, although we get the sneaking suspicion there are going to be plenty of titles available at launch. We'll let you know if we can confirm the early March date, though.

God of War 1 was in development for 3 years because they had to make a new engine. God of War 2 only took 2 years because they already had an engine and they were familiar with PS2 and GOW.
GOW 3 is on a new system, PS3, with a new engine that they have to build. They HAVE to have amazing graphics. It is one of the things that attracts people to the game. They will most likely try to add a ton of gameplay features too.
Also, David Jaffe said that GOW3 promises to be the best in the series. He isn't saying that to build hype because there is nothing in it for him. He isn't developing it. He just knows the story. So he isn't BSing.
If they want it to be the best they will take their time.
