Guitar Hero IV News And Details
Thanks to next month's Game Informer and its early unveiling on PrimoTech, we now have some early details for this year's Guitar Hero IV.
The next installment in this hugely popular series will apparently "follow closely in the footsteps of Rock Band," in that players will have the option of more instruments besides a guitar. Yep, we figured this would happen; the new Guitar Hero will boast a bass, microphone and drumset (with two cymbals), and now we're wondering if GHIV and Rock Band instruments will be interchangeable... Furthermore, due to the split between Activision and Gibson, it now falls to the developer to create their very own guitar for this new installment. But believe it or not, the big news doesn't end there.
First and foremost, users will have the ability to create their own songs and share them with other players online, thanks to the brand new Guitar Hero Tunes service. Now, you won't be able to record vocals for your masterpieces, but that's okay. Heck, the customization is so far advanced that you'll even be able to create your own musicians, instruments and album art! We're still awaiting the official track list from Activision, but some included bands will be Van Halen, Linkin Park, and the Eagles, and all songs will be master tracks. Lastly, and we have to mention this- there is one currently unrevealed feature that will "directly impact the way you play Guitar Hero in the future."
Guitar Hero IV is scheduled to arrive some time later this year - probably for the holidays - for the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii. Oh, and stay tuned for our interview with Neversoft regarding next month's Guitar Hero: Aerosmith.

Can the devs potentially give us an add-on from the store to include these features and an update for new instruments? I think people are more happy downloading more songs from the store, so do we really need a GHIV? Unless its just to compete with new Rock Band game?
I suppose if you have Rock Band and you contiue to download new tracks you won't need GHIV?
