Ocelot Hints At Metal Gear Solid 5?

At last year's E3, Konami and Hideo Kojima himself revealed that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots would be the final entry in the legendary franchise. Of course, we had heard something similar before, but this time, we were prepared to take that announcement at face-value.

Then again, maybe we shouldn't have been so hasty. After all, when a series is this popular, it doesn't make much sense to end it. Even if Konami and Kojima didn't want to do another installment, they'd have to follow their noses...in the direction of more huge profit. Money talks, yes? Well, after Konami's MGS4 completion ceremony event in Tokyo, 1Up translated one final audio clip featuring MGS mainstay Revolver Ocelot. Here it is:

Yes.

We just finished the press conference.

Yes.

Everything went according to plan.

Yes.

We're entering into the last phase of the mission.

Do you want to execute the launch day surprise?

Yes, that's right.

Akihabara, New York, L.A....

Live, simultaneously throughout the world...

Yes, it's under control.

The VIP's are happy to participate.

Yeah, that's right.

That person.

Yes sir, understood.

So on June 12th...

By the way, what should we do about "The Project?"

Yes, that's correct.

That man has fallen.

It's about the sequel.

Yes, indeed.

Yes.

Yes.

The voice on the other end of the line is unknown, and of course, this doesn't mean they're talking about Metal Gear Solid 5. But it sure is interesting, is it not? And it begs another question: if Kojima really does leave, and Sony wants another MGS, will Kojima allow another team to handle it? We find that very difficult to envision... Anyway, speculate away, fellow MGS fans.

Still waiting to see a movie based on a game done properly... Hitman tried hard. Doom tried TOO hard. etc. etc.

I'm pretty sure this will be the Game of the Year. This series got better with each passing installment. Snake Eater was , in my eyes completely perfect. I had no complaint with that game at all. So now that June is approaching ever so quickly, I'm getting giddy. Right now I'm just passing time playin GTA IV. I can't wait to stop playin that and MGS4.

P.s I think saints row 2 will be better than GTA IV.

They must be convident that MGS4 will do real well.

Assuming..... MGS5 is a continuation of MGS4 and MGS4 as of now is only "made" to work for the PS3... then unless they decide to work on MGS4 for the 360/PC... MGS5 will be PS3 exclusive???

Good news and all... but what happened to the RPGs... Playstation = RPG land :(

K ignore me

Don't worry there are RPGs coming FF13 and 13VS will be coming soon enough. There is something on the horizon with the Tales series. SMT will be at the party soon too I'm sure. I think P3 will be the last SMT on PS2.

@Ben - I see you're a big GTA4 fan.

Stuff like this is what makes me love Metal Gear so much.

I love Kojima's insanity.

Doesn't really have anything to do with whether or not I'm a GTAIV fan. I just find it HIGHLY unlikely that Saints Row 2 will be better.

I think that the surprise will be the sequel to ZOE...

If you have read the OPMUK review... this conversation is not new. We will know in less than a month

It was my understanding that Kojima said this would be the last installment to feature Solid Snake, not the last installment period. There will be more and where is this talk of Kojima leaving coming from?
