EA Drops Hints Regarding Skate 2
The original Skate, designed to compete with Activision's long-running Tony Hawk series, turned out to be a solid game for fans of the genre. This is why we're excited to hear that EA is working on a sequel for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
Details are scarce, but if you check the game's official site, you will notice that they have two videos up. They're not gameplay vids, but they provide a bit of background info that will be interesting to skateboarding aficionados who enjoyed the original Skate. It seems that Skate 2 will take place 5 years later, and the city of San Vanelona has changed a great deal. Strangely enough, after capturing the crown of Skater of the Year, your character up and disappeared, leaving no evidence of his whereabouts. Even worse, the authorities are clearly cracking down on skaters, as "No Skating" signs litter the city landscape. This may usher in a whole new dimension to the skating genre of games...what exactly are we supposed to do? Are we gonna have a wanted level like in GTA? Can cops be bribed? How can the town return to tolerating skaters?
Yeah, we have all kinds of questions, but we imagine they'll be answered when more details drop. Stay tuned for that; EA should deliver that info within the next few months.
