Kojima: "I Gotta Start Thinking About Metal Gear Solid 5"

Any lingering concern you may have had that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots would be the final Metal Gear should be laid to rest. As far as we're concerned, this all but confirms the fact that MGS will continue forward.

We had heard earlier from Ryan Payton that while MGS4 is the final chapter in Solid Snake's story, this doesn't mean another entry in the critically acclaimed stealth series isn't out of the question. In fact, at this point, Metal Gear Solid 5 will probably happen (even if it is without Snake). Franchise creator Hideo Kojima has now said it himself during an interview with Famitsu:

"I gotta start thinking about MGS5... Even though, well, Snake's story ends in MGS4. ...About MGS5, that would be something that Kojima Productions would have to make, I think." (source- Kotaku)

That's about as close to a confirmation as you're going to get right now, and it seems pretty obvious. We had heard that Kojima wanted to move on to "other projects" now that MGS4 is out the door, but as he says here, Kojima Productions would have to make MGS5. We always wondered if Kojima would turn his own creation over to another team, and we just couldn't see it happening. Well, it probably won't, and if MGS4 is the blockbuster it's supposed to be, we're willing to bet Kojima will follow up on this claim here and "start thinking about MGS5." Sweet!

If theres a MGS5 the series will just get milked, the only real title they would be logical is a portable ops 2, Fill the gap between MGSPO1 & MG.

Wow this was front page on N4G.

MGS 5 is definitely a must. A prequel would be cool...something with naked snake again like MGS 3. Naked Snake is by far cooler than solid snake and had to work for his skills not just obtain them via clonage.

I think its pretty safe to say Kojima could start a whole different project. He could branch out, like say for example Tom Clancy. Why not just start from scratch and deliver another brilliant series. He has the intelligence to complete the feat with huge success!

Anyways it was just a thought, no matter what he decides he has my support and my cash cause I will most definitely buy it!

There is just so much more of the MGS universe to explore. And i think Kojima is excited to explore it himself. I know that's how i feel when i'm writing a good story (on the rare occasion).

@kj313 - I agree with you, I wouldn't mind Kojima coming up with another awesome universe like the Metal Gear one.

But if he doesn't, I don't mind. I love the MGS universe.

We're talking about a genius here, so even without Snake Kojima will produce the goods. A good thing about another sequel being developed by Kojima productions again is that there's every chance it will stay on Sony's platform.

I would totally dig a new series or even singular game from Kojima that is outside of the MGS world and i would still love on within but what Im really waiting for is a new ZOE!
