MGS4: 4.6GB HDD Install Required
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is hogging all the news lately, but we figure it deserves it. Besides, Grand Theft Auto IV claimed the spotlight for several months prior to its release on April 29, so it's no real surprise to see another blockbuster assault the news before its June 12 launch.
Now, we already have a horde of details for MGS4, but a new one has just hit the Internet, thanks to a screenshot of the back of the box: as you can see by this photo, the game requires that you have a "minimum" of 4.6GB available on your hard drive for the install process. This is pretty hefty in comparison to other titles that have required an HDD install in the past, but then again, we doubt people will be complaining. After all, most have either a 60, 40, or 80GB hard drive, so 4.6 really isn't anything too bothersome. However, with enough games of this size in the future, it won't be too difficult to fill up even the 80GB hard drive... We all remember using multiple memory cards on previous PlayStations, right?
Well, we figure hard drive space will only increase with future PS3 models - and you know they're coming - and besides, we're talking about MGS4, here. How many other titles will have this level of technical achievement? How many will really require 4.6 gigs to be installed on the HD? We're guessing not many.
