Insomniac: Resistance 2 Looks "Same Or Better" Than Trailer
Title hype in the video game industry comes in waves; we feel the rumble of said wave when the game is announced and the first details are dropped, watch in growing anticipating as the wave gains steam and size, and then it crests a few weeks before launch. Resistance 2 is still in the second phase, but we've heard something else that will certainly add to this particular wave's size.
You probably remember the teaser trailer that debuted back in April. It didn't show us much, but what it did show appeared quite impressive; it's a visual display that has gotten people talking. Those people are going to have even more to talk about now, as Insomniac's Community Manager Bryan Intihar has indicated that the final product might look "the same, or better" than the trailer. He was asked if the trailer was in real-time during IGN's Podcast Beyond, and Intihar made that statement in reply. That's not really an answer to the question, but...well, it kinda is. The original Resistance looked great, but it has been eclipsed by several titles since, so the sequel will have to boast enhanced graphics. It appears they've done that from what little we saw in the trailer, and if what Intihar said is true...
Of course, this could just be more of the ol' Killzone 2 hype from 2005, where rumors were flying that everything we saw in early videos was real-time, or that the game would actually look better than those teasers, etc. But we have complete faith in Insomniac by now, so we're hoping this isn't just more smoke and mirrors. Now let's have that gameplay trailer to prove these comments!
